Breaking news in the Fashion Industry!

Clearance season is here ladies and did you take the time to read my blog about saving money before the shopping spree season hits? Well if you did then very good because you'll have no problems beating the rush at these upcoming clearance sales. If you didn't read my blog or refuse to take the advice then you are up a creek when these clearance sales begin to happen.

Yes it is that time of year were you buy those winter clothes dirt cheap of half of it's retail value before it goes back to the warehouse for the next winter.

Here is a list of stores and the percentage that they are seeing for their upcoming clearance sales:

  • Limited Brands posted a 15% gain in same-store sales
  • Macy's sales were up 5.8% for February
  • Nordstrom posted a sales gain of 7.3%
  • Ross Stores reported a 3% gain
  • Rite Aid posted a 1% gain

In more news Aspen Fashion Week founder Lisa Johnson is trying to pay off some debt to some of the vendors of 2010's fashion week that are still owed money. This interest because this is it third year of this city having it's fashion week and the founder is disputing that this years event is coming together really at the last minute because the Aspen Fashion Week is starting March 13-16.

However the good thing about the Aspen Fashion Week has given 50 employment because their is an estimate of $40,000.00 in hotel room and airfares filled because of the city's Fashion week that is about to come up.

Moreover the location of the Fashion Week is quite unique because it is going to be held at the Silver Circle Ice Rank and the fact that the center of Fashion Week is located across from where diesel-powered buses come and go all day is not a problem.

What the problem lie for the Aspen Fashion Week it has already given the fashion week $15,000.00 so, are they going to double the amount of money they owe to the vendors? Are they going to use different ones this year while the try last years vendors back? I don't know lets see what happens. In more news ladies and followers. This is very interesting being the fact that we all know that spring is right around the corner and everyone is putting the winter stuff away and bringing in the new stuff for the summer. Here what I find very interesting...the best flash sales offer two things: an adrenaline rush and a product you can’t live without. Gap’s new Flashion sales can check both boxes. Their first, on Saturday March 5th, stars their new soft trench—a spring essential. Yes this is correct a trench coat that you can wear for the spring season!!! What? Are you serious a sexy trench coat that is worn only for the spring? Unbelievable.

Gap's Soft Trench Coat
Yes this is a fact due to the slouchy, sexy silhouette was born to top spring’s mini skirts and high-waisted denim.  Belt it, or wear it loose over this season’s must have floor length dresses whether your heading to the beach or a cocktail party.  It comes in khaki—the perfect neutral—so you can wear it with everything.
Gap’s soft trench usually costs $89.95, but on Saturday, for one day only, it’s just $50 (in-store only) when you mention the code “flashion” at checkout.  Ready, set, shop!!!!

In other news Chanel artistic director Karl Lagerfeld is furious on the alleged scandal surrounding the former Dior designer John Galliano for his anti-semitic attacks.  To make matters worse is the fact the image has gone around the world and leaving a horrible image for the fashion industry. They are now making the statements that every fashion designer and everything in fashion is like this. Which is not a very true statement because in the fashion world uniqueness is important because if something is not bold, vibrant, exotic, sexy, sophisticated and different then no one is going to buy it. In addition each fashion designer has his and her own vision of what is right and what is wrong so, not everyone in the fashion world agrees what John Galliano is doing is right. I don't believe anyone should worship or respect what Adolf Hitler did because he was a cruel man that should have been punished.

What was the outcome for Galliano? Well the French Fashion house booted Galliano out as soon as the videos containing his anti-semitic attacks were surfaced.

Lagerfeld stated: "The thing is, we are a business world where, especially today, with the internet, one has to be more careful than ever, especially if you are a publicly known person. You cannot go in the street and be drunk -- there are things you cannot do."

Well we will see what else will happen with this scandal that has now surfaced and we will see if the designer who are trying to take Galliano's top place will get there. That's all for now. I am Glam Gal and I will see you next time stay tune.
